Foreword: A songfic that uses the lyrics to Are You Lonesome Tonight? that is sung by Elvis Presely.

Lisa sat in her apartment watching the rain fall on the cold and rainy Friday night. She tried everything to get her mind over him. She tried watching television, reading a book, but nothing worked. All she could do was watch the rain fall and remember the terrible thing that happened earlier on in the day. The day at the office was as normal as it could be. Joe and Matthew were playing games that they made up, Catherine and Bill were doing another silly prank war, Beth was eavesdropping on everyone's phone calls and Mr. James was harassing Dave. Then the unthinkable happened. Dave called Lisa into his office. She went in and immediately started to kiss him but he drew back from her.

"Lisa, I need to talk you about our relationship." Dave said.
"What about it?" Lisa asked in a puzzled voice. Dave looked and sounded anxious but some how found the courage to say what he needed to say.
"Lisa, there is no simple way to say this, but... I think it would be better if we break up."
"Why?" was all that Lisa could ask.
"Well, I think we need to focus on our work and it also would not be a bad idea if we started seeing other people." Dave explained. Lisa looked at Dave and then slapped him across the face and ran out of his office. Lisa somehow finished a full day's work without shedding a single tear that she knew would come tonight.

Lisa started crying at the painful memory. She walked over to the radio and turned it on. A song came on and Lisa just listened.

Are you lonesome tonight,
do you miss me tonight?
Are you sorry we drifted apart?
Does your memory stay to a brighter sunny day
When I kissed you and called you sweetheart?

When Lisa heard the song it was like it understood her pain. Good memories flooded into her mind. Her and Dave flirting in the office, Dave teasing her, having dinner together and most of all the great times there had in bed and in Dave's office. She couldn't believe it was over and yet the song still played on.

Do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare?
Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there?
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

Lisa was at a lost and she kept crying over the loss of what she thought was her true love.

I wonder if you are lonesome tonight
You know someone said that the world's a stage
And each must play a part.
Fate had me playing in love you as my sweet heart.

Act one was when we met, I loved you at first glance
You read your line so cleverly and never missed a cue
Then came act two, you seemed to change and you acted strange

And why I'll never know.
Honey, you lied when you said you loved me
And I had no cause to doubt you.
But I'd rather go on hearing your lies
Than go on living without you.

Then Lisa went into the kitchen she grabbed the whiskey from the cabinet and started to drink her troubles away. She was never a real big drinker, but this night she had a good reason.

Now the stage is bare and I'm standing there
With emptiness all around
And if you won't come back to me
Then make them bring down the curtain down.
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

When the song ended Lisa turned off the radio and stumbled into her bedroom. She was too drunk to change for bed, so she fell down the bed. The last conscious thought she had before the alcohol claimed her was this: I am lonesome tonight, Please Dave come back to me because I love you!
